Josh Rundquist of That Drummer Guy recently conducted an interview with former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate. You can listen to the chat below.

Asked what he will do next now that “A New Reality”, the third and final of a concept album trilogy from his OPERATION: MINDCRIME project, has been released, Tate said: “I don’t have an answer for that. I don’t really know what I’m going to do creatively next. I’m kind of enjoying not having a deadline, I know that. I have a lot of touring that I’m making plans for now to begin in January — I start January 11th in Dublin, Ireland — and I’m pretty much gonna be touring through all of 2018. But as far as record-wise, I don’t have a plan as of yet. I’m kind of enjoying being a free agent and working with a number of different people. Last year, I worked with AVANTASIA, Tobias Sammet‘s group — I recorded a song with them — and I also toured with them this summer. And I worked with ANGRA recently — a South American, Brazilian band — and that was really, really something fun to do. So I keep getting asked to do these kind of guest projects, and I’m really enjoying that. ‘Cause I never did that before. When I was into QUEENSRŸCHE, I was always into QUEENSRŸCHE and it was a band and the band always came first. So now I’m kind of enjoying working on all these other projects.”

“A New Reality” arrived on December 1 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Tate recently recorded a brand new song in support of charity. All proceeds from the track, which will be released later this month, will benefit MercyWatch, a nonprofit focused on outreach to the homeless community in Snohomish County, located in the U.S. state of Washington, where Tate lives with his family.

Tate will spend at least part of 2018 touring in celebration of the 30th anniversary of his former band’s “Operation: Mindcrime” album.
