EVANESCENCE Vocalist AMY LEE Covers LED ZEPPELIN Classic "Going To California"; Official Video Posted

Evanescence have been performing the Led Zeppelin IV classic “Going To California” on the road recently, and vocalist Amy Lee has now released an official recording and video of the track as part of her ongoing cover series.

Lee: “This song is a classic that I’ve loved for as long as I can remember. It puts me at peace. My friend and manager, Jordan, had recorded the instrumentation for fun and when I heard it a few months ago I knew instantly that I had to sing on it. Listening to mommy sing usually helps get Jack into that elusive sleepy place, and this song has been a regular rotation nap-time hit around our house this fall. As I was preparing for the November Evanescence shows, I just really wanted a moment like this in our set. So I showed this version to Troy, who made it a personal challenge to master a finger-picking based song, which was outside his comfort zone (not that you could tell – he sounded amazing!). We had so much fun playing it live!

It’s a pleasure to sing a song publicly that is such a part of who I am offstage- my roots, the style of music that we always played around my house when I was growing up, and still at every big family gathering, singing and playing music with my dad. Hope you enjoy it!”

Eveanescence recently confirmed Jen Majura (Equiblibrium, Knorkator) as the new guitar player for Evanescence. Lee issued the following update:

“We have big news to share. After two albums, countless adventures around the world and on the stage, Terry’s time with Evanescence has come to an end. As difficult as that is, we stand unified knowing it’s the right thing for all of us. We will always love you, Terry, and wish you all the happiness, health, and love in the world!

Now for the exciting part of this announcement: Ladies and gentlemen, meet Jen.

After scouring the globe, I found Evanescence’s missing piece in South Germany. She plays like a supervillan, sings like an angel, and laughs like a great friend. We spent a few days together last week in New York sharing eerily familiar life stories, sushi, artistic inspiration, other people’s shoes, and so many laughs! (Yeah, okay, and maybe there were a couple of stiff drinks mixed in there).

We are all so excited to play together this fall and bring the show to a whole new level. Can’t wait! I know you will show her all the love and respect a strong, talented woman deserves. I couldn’t be happier to welcome our new sister to the band.”
