EDDIE VAN HALEN On This Week’s Smithsonian Visit – “What More Could You Ask For To Be Recognized As Being Part Of Having Contributed To Change, You Know?”

Guitar legend Eddie Van Halen will speak at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History tomorrow, February 12th, in Washington D.C. about innovation as part of the national “What It Means To Be American” program in a sold-out event.

Eddie will donate some instruments to the National Museum of American History and discuss making music and his innovative guitar and amp designs. The Dutch immigrant and naturalized US citizen will discuss his American journey, his role in creating one of the biggest American rock bands of all time, how he has reinvented the way the guitar is played and designed, and he will answer the question, “Is rock ‘n’ roll about reinvention?”

Speaking with The Associated Press’ Brett Zongker, Eddie reflects on what it means to him now to be donating some of his guitars to the Smithsonian.

“What more could you ask for to be recognized as being part of having contributed to change, you know? … All I can say is only in America.”
