DISTURBED's DAVID DRAIMAN On Upcoming Tour: 'It'll Incorporate Aspects Of Production That We've Never Attempted'

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman said in a recent interview with Consequence Of Sound that he is excited about the band’s upcoming North American headlining tour, which is scheduled to kick off this Wednesday (January 9) in San Diego. “I’m looking forward to finally being able to give the fans a true evening with DISTURBED,” he said. “Each one of these performances will span about two hours. It’ll go through our entire discography. It’ll be different from night to night. It’ll incorporate aspects of production that we’ve never attempted — a little bit more theatricality than people have seen of late, so we’re harkening a little bit more back to that sort of sense of things. It just gives us the opportunity — since we don’t have this tremendously stacked bill and just have the gentlemen from THREE DAYS GRACE joining us, who we’re very, very grateful to have them come along — for us to be able to do just about whatever we want. And it’s going to be an experience for fans — that have either seen us before or never seen us before — that’s unlike anything that they’ve seen. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Draiman told The Pulse Of Radio a while back he’s got a strict regimen to keep his voice in good shape. “I’ve gone through a lot of training to try and figure out how to do what I do without hurting myself,” he said. “It doesn’t always work, but 90 percent of the time hopefully it does. Part of what makes me who I am is the tonality of the voice, and I’m trying to still be able to push and expand my range without losing too much of that tonality. So it’s a challenge, it’s kind of on the razor’s edge.”

DISTURBED released its seventh studio album, titled “Evolution”, last October. The disc includes the first single and video, “Are You Ready”, plus “A Reason To Fight” and “The Best Ones Lie”.

Draiman recently revealed that DISTURBED will no longer tour at the frequency he and his bandmates were known for in the past, explaining: “It’s not going to be as cyclical as it has been in the past. We’re being a lot more selective with our touring. We’re all older, we all have families, we all have commitments outside of the band, so we’re trying to re-evaluate how we do what we do so that we can balance everything. And that means that we won’t be back around as often.”

DISTURBED will be the musical guest on the Thursday, January 10 episode of ABC-TV‘s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The band will perform several songs on the show’s outdoor stage in front of what is expected to be a standing-room-only crowd. The program airs at 11:35 p.m.
