According to the Associated Press, a statue of Chris Cornell will be erected at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture this summer.
Sculptor Nick Marras is creating a life-size bronze statue of the late SOUNDGARDEN and AUDIOSLAVE singer in his boots, dog tag and long locks.
The statue will be unveiled on August 29 in the city where Cornell was born. His widow Vicky said that he it is her family’s gift to “the tight-knit community that gave him his start.”
Chris was found hanged in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit hotel in May 2017. His body was found soon after he had spoken with a “slurred” voice to Vicky by phone. The death was ruled a suicide.
But his family has questioned the medical examiner’s ruling, saying that he had a prescription for Ativan and that a higher than recommended dosage may have caused him to experience suicidal thoughts.
