The animals are proving an expensive headache for the former Black Sabbath hellraiser, who wants to turn a 17th century barn in the grounds of his mansion into a two-bedroom home.
Last summer, a small colony of protected brown long-eared and pipistrelle bats were found roosting there and planning chiefs refused to let Ozzy, 66, go ahead with building work.
The Prince of Darkness has now been given the green light by his local council but only if he gets a licence and forks out £18,500 to rehome the bats.
Failure to comply with laws protecting bats can result in a fine of £5000 per bat or a six-month jail term.
