Joe Perry has suggested in a new interview that he has completed work on his new solo album.
The AEROSMITH guitarist told The Musician’s Ear that the is “in the can right now” but added that there is no set release date for the effort. “I just need to polish it up a bit more,” he said. “I’m looking to release some of it in the New Year.”
When Perry first talked about his next solo album last year, he indicated that it would be a mostly instrumental affair. Since then, he has revealed that several singers would be involved, including Terry Reid, David Johanson and Iggy Pop.
“It’s got all kinds of sounds, but I would probably say ‘funky’ is the quickest way to put it,” he said. “Everything starts with rhythm and that vibe.
“When I’m writing songs, it always starts with some variation of R&B and funk, whether it’s been from the first AEROSMITH stuff till what we’re going to work on this afternoon.”
Perry recently said that AEROSMITH is only “considering” doing a farewell tour as an option, despite singer Steven Tyler‘s previous claim that the group would embark on its final tour in 2017.
